the relativity of 'home'
Home.
what does it really mean? Does it mean: where you come from, where you are born, where you grow up, where you study, where you live for a year or two count as home?
This notion has always been of interest to me considering I have met alot of people through AIESEC in the past 5 years. Home for trainees? I remember I once had a conversation with an ex.LCP of @ Edmonton. She studied in Edmonton as an international student, then went to another city to work on the MC, then onto a traineeship and about 3 years ago, I chatted with her and asked: are you home yet?
her response: Alma, what is home to you?
At that moment, I never really realized what she meant. And I can only speak for myself, and granted i have only been abroad for half of my traineeship, but I now can ask: what is home?
This past week one of my very good friends and roomie, Anna left to go home, back to Poland. After countless party nights, long slightly intoxicated talks, I realized not only was I not going to see her for a while, but at the moment she got into the car, I couldn't imagine the day I go home. Its a weird-undescribable (is that even a word?!) feeling, almost surreal....but with 6 months left, I am sure I will be able to realize what home means for me.
PS: pictures coming soon!
